Building a Reentry Hiring Pipeline in Your City

Workforce boards, reentry nonprofits, and parole offices will send you pre-screened candidates for free.

September 4, 2026 6 minute read

Start with three phone calls

Your state workforce agency, the nearest reentry nonprofit, and the local probation or parole office all maintain candidate lists and all want employer partners. None of them charges you.

Be specific about what you need

Tell partners the exact roles, shifts, wage, and any hard requirements such as a clean driving record. Vague requests produce mismatched referrals and waste everyone's time.

Report back

Tell your partners who worked out and who did not, and why. Referral quality improves fast when the organization knows what your floor actually requires.
