What Motivated Candidates Look Like on Paper
Program completions, clean supervision records, and self-disclosed conditions are signals most hiring managers overlook.

Completed programs are effort you can verify
A GED, a finished substance-abuse program, or a trade certificate earned while incarcerated took months of voluntary work under difficult conditions. That is a work-ethic signal.
Off paper means something
Successfully completing probation or parole — especially early termination — means years of compliance with strict conditions. Very few resumes contain a comparable track record.
Voluntary disclosure is a good sign
A candidate who lays out their check-in schedule and testing requirements before you ask is telling you they plan to keep both commitments. Treat that as professionalism.
